The government has decided to deploy the Nepal Army personnel to guard the uranium mine located near Lomanthang in Upper Mustang. A Cabinet meeting held in Singha Durbar on Friday decided to this effect, Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey told Republica Online. “A proposal seeking deployment of the Nepal Army personnel to guard the invaluable uranium mine had been submitted in the Industry ministry,” Minister Pandey said, “We will dispatch a letter to the Nepal Army to build a company of army personnel for the protection of the uranium ours.” Department of Mine and Geology under the Ministry of Industry has been making a survey and study of the mines. A team of experts at the Department of Mine and Geology led by Industry Minister Pandey had recently launched a field visit to the uranium mine in Upper Mustang
