CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli today said constitution implementation was far more important than its amendment as present context.Inaugurating the CPN-UML Town Committee’s first convention in Bara’s Nijgadh today, the UML chief criticised the government for moving ahead the constitution amendment process instead of focusing on its implementation.“This is period to implement the constitution rather than to amend it as amendment is definitely possible on the foundation necessity,” he said.Further, Oli accused the ruling parties of pushing the country into grave crisis. “In fact, statute amendment is just a pretext for those elements who intend to instigate conflict in the country by splitting hills for the plains,” argued the former prime minister. He also accused the Madhes-based parties of being against the development of Madhes. “They are individuals who don’t want to see development in Madhes, tend to be calling us anti-Madhes although our party has declared numerous development projects for Madhes,” he said.He added, “Otherwise why do the Madhes-based leaders and parties never raise any development issues, but keep ranting on petty issues?”A version of this article appears in print on November 27, 2016 of The Himalayan Times.
