Said was competing in the qualification of your Men’s Vault when he landed awkwardly, breaking his left leg below the knee. The cracking noise was so loud it would be heard over the insurance. Some have said it was so loud it “echoed through the arena”. Following his injury, Said laid motionless and only put a hand over his face to as well as cope with the excruciating pain. Paramedics immediately rushed to his side, tended to his leg and stretchered the Olympian clear. Upon leaving the building, Said was prone to an ovation from everyone else within the Rio Olympic Arena, and bravely raised a hand to his supporters.
